1) What are the dial-up phone numbers?

• To connect, Please call us by phone

2) Do I have to dial 514 as the area code?

• If your dialing location is in the 450 area code, you must put '514' before the dial-up phone number in order to get connected properly. If not, a recorded message from Bell will prevent you from connecting.

3) What is my email address?

• Your email address is: username@kravinsystems.com
• Your email address contains two parts: your username and the host (which in this case, is kravinsystems.com).

4) What is my username?

• Your username is the first part of your email address. In this case, your email address is: username@kravinsystems.com
  Your username is the "username" part, however for email software insure you enter username@kravinsystems.com.

5) What is my password?

• Your password is a secret sequence of characters that you choose when your account is created. It should appear on your contract. It must be kept secret.
  Your password is required to log on the Kravin Systems server. It can be stored in your dial-up connection for a faster log-on, but make sure you can remember it or have it written down somewhere in case of an emergency. The password for your connection is the same than the one you have to use to retrieve your email.

6) What is your modem ratio?

• Our current modem ratio is 1:5.

7) What is a web page?

• The World Wide Web is the collection of Web pages accessible through the Internet. A Web page is a window of information which can include text, pictures, and just about anything else that can be stored in a computer file (including video and sound). Each window of information you see on the World Wide Web is called a Web page. The World Wide Web allows people to conveniently access information which has made it the most useful part of the Internet. Web sites can contain many Web pages or just one main page.

8) What does IP stand for?

1) Can I change my username?

• To change your username, please call customer service.

2) Can I change my password?

• In case you forgot your password or want to change it, you must send a written request either by email or fax. If the email method is chosen, then you must send an email to admin@kravinsystems.com.
• For the security of our clients. WE DO NOT CHANGE PASSWORDS OR REVEAL PASSWORDS OVER THE PHONE.

3) How do I cancel an account?

• For account cancellations, you must send a written confirmation by fax or email admin@kravinsystems.com

4) Can I get additional email addresses?

• Depending on your plan, you can have more than one e-mail account. However, if you wish extra email accounts It is possible, for a small monthly fee. For more details, please contact customer service.

5) What modem speeds does Kravin Systems support?

• Our dial-up service currently supports 14.4K up to 56 Kbps modem access and ensure a stable and fast connection for our clients.

6) Does Kravin Systems offer space for personal homepages?

• We currently do not support hosting of web pages. However, this will change shortyly.

7) Do I need a separate phone line to go on the Internet?

• No, you will not need a separate phone line to use the Internet. You can use your existing phone line but you will be unable to receive incoming phone calls. If you have call waiting, you will have to disable this service (by putting "*70," in front of the phone number) when using the Internet or incoming calls may cause a disconnection during your Internet usage.

8) I've heard of Netscape Navigator/Communicator and Internet Explorer, which one do you support?

• You are totally free to use whichever browser that you want. For example, if you would like to use Netscape Navigator/Communicator instead of Internet Explorer, all you have to do is go to http://home.netscape.com and download it, it's free! The opposite is also possible, if you're currently using Netscape's browser, you can always go to http://www.microsoft.com and download Internet Explorer. Both browsers can be installed on your computer without any problems whatsoever.
  However, our pre-configured software only supports these two products.

9) I can't connect...Are you down?

• Ocassionaly it may be possible that we may be down...However, it would most likely be that either you have used your time for the month or your dialup setting have been changed on your machine. If your settings have been changed. We suggest that you re-install our pre-configure software.

10) Can I get an IP address?

• Every time you connect to us, we provide you with an IP address. You keep this IP address until you disconnect from us. Please note that this IP address changes every time that you connect to us. (Dynamic IP)

11) Is it possible to get a fixed IP address? (Static IP)

• Static IP's are not available for dial-up connections.

12) Why is my password refused?

• For your email, make sure you enter your username (as yourusername@kravinsystems.com) and your password properly in the appropriate fields.
• Insure you enter your the correct password to logon to our service. Note: Your email and logon password maybe different, if you specified it so.
• Make sure everything is in lowercase.
• If you still experience a rejected password, please call us.

  56K CONNECTION

1) I heard of K56flex, x2 and V.90 modems. Do you support them?

• We currently support 56k modems based on the V.90 technology. To upgrade your 56k modem to V.90 standard, you can download the latest drivers for your modem at http://www.modemhelp.com
• We strongly recommend you to update your modem drivers to the V.90 standard which offers a much more stable connection, if you currently have a K56flex or x2 modem.

2) Since I now have a 56k connection, shoudn't I be connecting at 56k?

• A 56k connection is a very theoretical speed. In theory, you should be connecting at 56k, but in practice, it always is somewhat lesser than that (49K or so).
• Another detail to remember is that a 56k connection can only achieve a speed of 56 Kbps in the downstream direction (that is, from the Internet, to you). Upstream speed is at the regular maximum speed of 33.6 Kbps.

3) I only have a 14.4/28.8/33.6 modem, can I still connect to the 56k number?

• Of course, there shoudn't be any problems doing that. Our number allows lower speed connections. * For more details on x2, K56flex, V.90, or any other information technology definition, you can visit http://www.whatis.com/.

  EMAILS

1) How can I make sure my email address is working?

• The best way to check if your email address is working is simply to send an email to yourself.

2) Why do I receive my messages back?

• For many reasons, you might receive a message containing an email you sent before. The header of this mail gives you the reason why your message did not go through. The most often encountered reason for emails being sent back is that the recipient's email address that you're trying to send to probably isn't typed in correctly or no longer exists. Make sure you entered it as it is supposed to be.

3) Why do I get timed-out connections?

• This might happen if the server is overloaded sending mail. If it used to work and you did not change anything in your configurations, then try to send or retrieve your email in a few minutes. Make sure you have the right configurations that will allow you to receive and send your email.

4) Can I send large files using my email?

• The purpose of email is not to transfer huge files. Kravin Systems does occasionally allow you to send files that maybe of upto 12MB in size. However, these files can not reside on our machine for more than 7 days. There are also many programs and services that allow you to transfer files directly to someone who is online. You can use the IRC (Internet Relay Chat) to send and receive your files. Also, ICQ has a feature that sends out files to people.
• We also suggest that you try to use a free service from XDrive at: http://www.xdrive.com . If you really need to send big files back and forth, and wish some sort of privacy you may wish to look into this service. This allows you to store big files on their site, and just share the folder or file so that others can retrieve what you make available to the specific.
• Quick Solution : We as well offer a free service at Kravin Systems. You can send big files to bigfiles@kravinsystems.com. We will place all files sent to this email on http://www.kravinsystems.com/bigfiles/.

5) Can I change my email adress?

• It is possible to change your email adresses, but that also implies changing your username. For more details, please contact customer service.

6) Can I leave my mail on the server?

• Yes, you can, but please make sure you clean up from time to time as to not take up too much space on the server.

7) When I check my mail, why does it say that a process is already in use?

• The main reason for this error message is that for example, you were checking your mail, and you suddenly canceled the transfer right in the middle, or got disconnected. When you try to check your mail again, our server thinks that you are still fetching your mail. This may be the reason you get an error message saying that the process is already in use. There are two things to do in this case, you can either wait ~15 mins for the process to timeout by itself and then retry, or call technical support so we can kill the process.

1) I heard of chatting on the net. How can I do that?

• There are a lot of chatting facilities on the net. One of the most popular is IRC. IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. It is a text based means of communication whereby people from all around the internet can join in with real time conversations. When joining a channel, messages from people in that channel are displayed and you can reply to all of them. To access IRC, you need an IRC client. For Wintel PC's, we recommend mIRC which is available at http://www.mirc.com/ or XiRCON at http://www.xircon.com/.
  
  
• There are different IRC networks. When you are connected to an IRC server, you can also communicate with all the users that are connected to servers of the same network. The most popular network these days is probably Undernet, after that comes other IRC networks like EFNet, Dalnet, etc. Sometimes, an IRC server might refuse you access. If it happens, try to connect to any other IRC servers that is connected on the same network.
